Parihaka

Hello, today I am telling you about the Parihaka remembrance day in this blog. We had to dress in white as a coulor of peace. Guess what, in the 1860’s the Maori people had got there land taken away from them. So in stead of protesting violently they were non – violent and pulled out the pegs. If they did they would have to go to jail for a little time. We had to make these cool headbands with Maori patterns. Here’s how we  made them. First we took two pieces of shiny paper and stuck them together. Then we had to draw Maori patterns in pencils and then draw over it with vivid. We took it to the teachers and they cut the extra off and we put feathers on the inside.

Black Ferns – World Cup

Kia ora, today I am going to be telling you about… the Black Ferns. If you don’t already know what they are playing, its rugby. They are in the World cup and they have not yet lost a single game ! Its crazy to think that, even though its good. Te Waka Ako are learning about the Black Ferns and have been writing down the games in the World Cup. Some of you may have heard of the wonderful, Sylvia Brunt and guess what she is a Waikowhai Kid! How cool and special is that?

They have played their first games and their first game to play was on the 8th of October and so on. Now they are heading into the quarter finals. There first game of the quarter finals, they are vs Wales. The Black Ferns Franchise have sent Waikowhai a letter, for us to write them a letter to then surprise the team with our letters.

I have a few links and photo you can look at to either find out more or just look at our awesome syndicate.

Manukau’s Reading Work

Kia ora bloggers,

Week 1 of term 1, we started a new slide in reading called, My Panui Workbook. It only has 3 slides but it was quite fun even though it was work. We had to read a story based on The BFG movie and once we read the story, we had to answer questions about it. The last slide had the story but we had to fill in the missing words. The teachers are going it be adding more work to it. FUN!

Now you can have a look at the slide show.

Goodbye😃

2022 Year 6 camp

Kia ora Edublog viewers, today I am going to be telling you about the Year 6 camp for 2022. I will also be showing you some photos. I will tell you about when my friends and I went kayaking for the first time ever at a lake on Wednesday the 11th of May.

Firstly we had to get life jackets on and make sure we had everyone with us, as we carried down the kayaks to the lake/beach while everyone else in the 2nd group was staying dry. We got to have fun with the kayaks and pedal boats. As we got into the kayaks we had to get in with our clothes on and not togs. At first I did not know what to do but my friends helped me a bit. My friends Jaycee and Rosaline had to go into a double boat because they were too scared and did not know what they were doing at that time, so they had to go with an adult. I had lots of fun and I’m guessing that all of my friends had fun like me.

After we were done the kayaking we went to the top of this little hill and we played a game called croquet. I had lots of fun playing it and straight after that we had to do an obstacle course and they made us to go through these tyres that had water in them and then we had to climb over a wood wall with holes, after that we had to do the monkey bars and then we had to climb over these swinging tyres and then the last thing that we did was balance on these beams but that was quite tricky.

It was so cool that day but after that we had to go to the pedal boats and the one that my friends and I were in did not really work but it was kinda fun.

Anyway I better go now but thanks for reading my blog guys byeee !

Student fun day

Welcome edublog viewers, today I am going to be telling you about our fabulous student fun day.

On the student fun day we had so much fun and we had to wear house coulors, and I am in Kea so I wore red. It was scorching hot that day and everybody was sweating to. I raced my friend Londyn in the obstacle course and she won but at least I tried my best. A couple of the teachers raced as well witch was very funny. In the obstacle  We got to go swimming and go on a water slide, but the water slide was freezing! I went down with my other friend Leah, but she only went down once and then she decided that she would go and get dressed. After we were allowed get back into the pool and the was super warm. Londyn and I went onto the humongous and tall slide and we raced down it. I almost fell of the edge of it but I got a burn from the slide and I kinda hurt. The teachers took a photo of all the house groups.

Now here are some photos of us on student fun day!

Growth mineset

Kia ora Edublog viewers,

We have been looking at Growth mindset in Math and watching class Dojo videos.

This dojo video is about making mistakes and learning from them to grow you mind.                                                                 This is the link that you can use to watch a Class Dojo about, The power of yet.

When I watched it I felt like now I could ask for help, but before I felt like I couldn’t. I felt that way because if I asked someone for help they might not have helped me because they might think that I wasn’t smart. After watching that video it made realize that I can ask for help just in a different way, with The power of yet.

I can now ask if I need help like this”can you please help me, I don’t understand this yet” that is the way I now ask for help.
